Montrose, Colo. (AP) - Montrose police are searching for suspects following the early-morning stabbing of a 14-year-old girl.
Police Chief Tom Chinn says the girl was asleep in her home when she was awakened by knocks at about 5 a.m. Monday. She was stabbed in the shoulder area when she opened the door.
The teen was taken to Montrose Memorial Hospital, where she was treated and released. Police have not announced the girl's name.
Authorities say a group of people was outside the teen's home, but investigators aren't sure how many were in the group or exactly what happened after the girl stepped outside.
Cmdr. Gene Lillard says a motive is unknown.
