While the heat hits the Grand Valley, many people are trying to stay cool inside, but since the heat wave caught many off guard, not everyone has turned their swamp coolers on yet.

Handyman Jason Martin says he's getting call after call asking him to help turn on swamp coolers before local residents melt!

Martin says calls have been consistent in the past month or so, but the past week, there's been a flood of calls trying to beat the heat.

He says business is hot, swamp coolers are flowing, only problem is he's been so busy, he hasn't yet had time to turn on his own!

If you haven’t turned on your swamp cooler yet, Martin has some advice:

Make sure your pump is running; if not, your cooler will blow hot air.

Change out your pads at least every two years.

To help cool down the house even faster, hose down your pads with the garden hose when you first take off the cover.

If you still need more help, you can call Jason Martin himself, at Plan A Handyman Services, (970) 985-3047.
