Fruita Police have arrested a man they say was trying to smuggle illegal aliens.

27-year-old Jose "E" Ramirez Junior is behind bars in the Mesa County Jail.
Police say he was driving on I-70 when they pulled him over for a
traffic violation and found 18 people inside.

They say Ramirez admitted the passengers were illegal and told police they paid him $30 each to drive them to Kansas.

Ramirez is being held on a $10,000 bond.

The suspected illegal aliens are in custody of Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
