Five tornadoes hit the front range yesterday and storm spotters captured the action on video. Now you too can join in on the action. The national weather service is offering free storm spotter training classes right here in grand junction and it is open to the public.
Even the seasoned veterans will enjoy a refresher class. "We update every year so it's not always the same thing," says Jim Pringle of the NWS. Spotters will be trained to relay information to the weather service about temperatures, wind speeds, rainfall, hail and any other type of unusual weather. They are also taught how to recognize cloud formations which can lead to severe weather.
So if you are interested in storm chasing, sign up now because space is limited.
