A Grand Junction driver learned that semi trucks really do make wide right turns after an accident on North Avenue.
Just before 1 p.m. Wednesday a semi truck traveling west on North Avenue was attempting to make a right turn onto 28 1/4 Road when they were struck by the driver of a white pickup truck who was attempting to go straight through the intersection. The semi was in the left lane, taking up two lanes to make the right turn.
Police Spokeswoman Kate Porras says part of the pickup's hood ran under the semi trailer causing heavy damage to the pickup and minor damage to the semi. No injuries were reported. The accident closed North Avenue for about 30 minutes and the accident is under investigation.
