Last week, President Obama urged Americans to get involved with volunteering efforts in their communities this summer.

Monday, First Lady Michelle Obama will help build a playground in San Francisco with California's First Lady, Maria Shriver Schwarzenegger.

Across the country, Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar will help pick non-native plants with youth groups at Shanandoah National Park in Virginia. The former U.S Senator from Colorado says it's important to get involved with communities at the local level.

His day of weed-picking will highlight President Obama's 'United We Serve,' initivative, as well as the proposed 21st Century Youth Conservation Corps-an organization dedicated to teaching leadership skills in young people.
