Volunteers that work with the St. Mary's Foster Grand Parent program and Senior Companion Program were honored for their work Friday.
Seniors over 55 made up the 87 volunteers that were recognized. Seniors that volunteer with the Foster Grandparent Program donate their time to share their life experiences with children; and volunteers with the senior companion program help other elderly individuals by assisting them with daily activities such as transportation.
Directors for both programs say they appreciate all the work their volunteers do but say they are desperately in need of more.
If you are interested in volunteering and making an impact in the community call 263-9091 for the Foster Grandparent Program or 263-9092 for the Senior Companion Program.
