People depending on checks from the unemployment office are supposed to call in or go online and verify they're still out of the job every two weeks.
A man we spoke to today that had been having problems submitting his report called us and said he was able to get through an will receive his money on time. Others however have not been so lucky.
Hundreds of unemployed people have been struggling to submit their report to get their check because the system has been having major problems. The Colorado Department of Unemployment says it's a server issue and it's something the Mesa County Workforce Center has been busy dealing with all day, “It started at 7:30 this morning, and we have been inundated with calls and people coming in. I don't blame them though, their money should've been here,” says Gilbert Lugan with the workforce.
The Colorado Department of Unemployment wants people to try calling the automated filing system before going online. The number to file by phone is 888-550-2800. You can also try calling 303-813-2800, we have gotten calls from viewers who say they have gotten in on that number.
The department of labor also says people can file their report for up to two weeks and they won’t be penalized; and they will receive the full amount of their unemployment.
