Wednesday night the Grand Junction City Council voted 6 to 1 on a facelift of a three block section of Downtown Grand Junction.
The City Council awarded a contract to a consulting firm, who will draw up plans to redevelop the area near 5th and Grand.
That area includes the Mesa County Library, the Assembly of God Church, and the Senior Recreation Center.
Officials believe there are opportunities to combine uses of those buildings and to build new things in the area.
The City says the planning process will take six to nine months.
