Vacancy rates are still twice as high as they were this time a year ago for apartment rentals.
Grand Junction Housing Authority officials say Grand Junction is at about a 4% vacancy rate, and could go up even more when second
quarter numbers come out.
Housing authority officials say a 5-6% vacancy rate is still healthy, but the problem is affordability, as monthly rental rates are not going down as property management companies ride out the recession.
