As the temperatures heat up so does your energy bill, so how can you cool down your bill?
Xcel Energy has some tips to cut your electric bill by about $25 a month.
The local energy giants has posted about 60 different ways to keep your place cool, and you can make those changes with things you already have in your house.
Looking outside, the 90 degree thermometers are a telling sign that the time to get your place a little chillier is now.
There are some easy things to do.
For one, get your thermometer as high as you can personally deal with. By increasing it just a few degrees, you can save around $25 per month.
Second, save your heavy appliance use for nighttime. Wait until your heading to bed, or you have all of your windows open to use your washing machine, dryer or dishwasher. They can cause a lot of heat, which may cause you to turn your air conditioner on a little bit colder, costing you money in the long run.
Third, try using the microwave instead of a convential oven or stove. The microwave does not emit as much heat into your home as your traditional baking oven.
Xcel has a lot more information to get your house ready for the hot, hot heat on their website. Just click on the link below for more information.
