A local group who sent care packages to troops overseas says it's been overwhelmed by the community's support and is asking for that support to continue.
Last month, Military Families of America collected 221 pounds of snacks, books, fans, and personal care items to a group of Marines in Afghanistan and they're hoping to send just as much in their next round of care packages later this year.
Organizers say in letters, the troops tell them how just a few, small items can really boost their morale and let them know they're appreciated.
Military Families of America is accepting item donations at the Honey Baked Ham store in Grand Junction and the Family Food Town in Palisade.
