Officials have shut down I-70 in both directions from Fruita to Loma due to smoke drifting over the highway.
The smoke is coming from a fire that officials told 11 News was contained just after 11 a.m. near the old Fruita refinery. Crews are working to clean up that fire from the outside in and say thick brush in the middle is still burning causing the smoke.
Westbound traffic is being diverted at the Fruita exit to run along the Frontage Road. Eastbound traffic is being diverted at the Loma exit to run along the Frontage Road.
11 News will have more on this developing story as it becomes available.
