A fire burning now Rangely spread quickly yesterday.
It went from 250 acres to more than 1,300 acres in just one day thanks to high winds.
The Rio Blanco fire is burning 8 miles southeast of Rangely - and it's moving toward oil and gas pipelines and equipment and a research station.
Fire managers say the fire that's burning on private and public land had been creeping slowly but grew as winds reached 30 mph winds Wednesday afternoon.
About 140 firefighters are battling the blaze. Three air tankers and two helicopters are at the fire.
Several power poles have burned. The fire is burning in sagebrush and fir, and juniper trees.
