With the country in a recession and many businesses going under, you might think now isn't the best time to start a new business, but one local entrepreneur thinks otherwise.

For Chad Sommers, the state of the economy was definitely on his mind when he started off on a new business venture. "It took about everything I had to start this business," says Sommers. On top of all that, Chad is leaving in a few weeks for school. "I'm going to pharmacy school," say Sommers. After hearing about Zagg from his girlfriend, he decided to check it out. "I went in to talk to them to see what it was all about," says Sommers. After doing a little research, it was an easy decision. "After looking in to it a seeing their stock go up it was a no brain-er," says Sommers.

ZAGG Inc. is a publicly traded company based in Salt Lake City, Utah. Their primary efforts are in manufacturing, designing, and distributing protective coverings for consumer electronics and hand-held devices under the brand name invisibleSHIELD.The invisibleSHIELD is a patented film that is customized and proprietary to ZAGG.

Even with him leaving for school, it was still the right time to get this started, and there was no time to waste. "Mesa Mall already had 4 inquiries about this kind of business so we wanted to get in before anyone else did," says Sommers. With help from his new business partner, his dad, they got the business started.

And now that he's off and running, Chad has big plans for his little start up. "In 2 years when I move home I want to make it a store front, if not, I at least want to expand to other locations," says Sommers. Even if this business is successful, this is not the only thing he has on his mind. "I'm looking at a pharmacy in Palisade, to work at and hopefully take it over," says Sommers.

While Chad is away at pharmacy school at the University of Southern Nevada, his dad and his brother will run the business full time.
