After just a week the Cash for Clunkers program has run out of money and because the program is so popular local dealers are having trouble keeping cars on their lots.
And as far as the money goes cash for clunkers might not exist after this week. The senate must approve a two billion cash infusion into the program by Friday and dealers are optimistic that will happen.
“I'm confident the senate will approve the additional 2 billion dollars,” says Ron Bubar, owner of Grand Junction Subaru.
“On Saturday we put everything on hold, but it looks like everything will pass, were taking it step by step,” says Mike Edwards, General Manager of Grand Junction Chrysler jeep Dodge.
As of now local dealers say they are honoring the program but they could be caught holding the clunker if there's not enough money to go around.
