Members of a local church are picking up the pieces after being vandalized overnight.

Just after 10:30 p.m. Monday police say a vandal hit the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on G Road breaking glass out of two doors and a window.

The vandal also broke glass out of display cases, and smashed pictures that lined the hallway.

In light of all of a number of recent church vandalisms members of this church are now asking everyone to help out, and to be on the lookout at all places of worship, regardless of their religion.

Officers say the suspect jumped into a white Chevy pickup truck and drove off.

Police have a ‘no chase’ policy to protect other drivers.

Anyone with information on this crime is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 241-STOP.

This is reminiscent of the church arsons several years ago...

It's sad to hear of all the churches being vandalized. I disagree with the church member who thinks that Grand Junction citizens have no sense of morals. If there were no sense of morals here, there would be no churches to vandalize! Grand Junction residents should celebrate the diversity of the the many faiths and religions we have, and the freedom we have to practice our faith. My prayers are with the LDS church as they work through this difficult time.
