A local eye doctor is sharing stories from her trip to Latin America to help adults and children in an underdeveloped country.
Ophthalmologist Deborah Lenahan volunteered in Peru with Vision Health International.
Doctor Lenahan joined 20 other volunteers do to eye exams and procedures, helping 145 people.
Something she says she couldn't be more proud of.
Lenahan says 80 percent of the world's blindness is treatable with proper medical care.
Since it's founding, Vision Health International volunteer medical teams have provided more than 15,000 eye exams, given away more than 13,000 pairs of eyeglasses and performed more than 3,000 sight–restoring surgical procedures.
