11 News has spoken with a Bresnan Communications spokesperson to discover why customers are experiencing a phone and Internet outage.
Shawn Beqaj with Bresnan Communications in New York says the company has experienced a 'serious outage' in at least three states including Colorado, Montana and Wyoming.
Beqaj says while many markets have had service restored, Grand Junction is not one of them and it is "difficult to say when it will be put back up." He says the company isn't sure why the outage occurred but it started around 7 p.m. Thursday and that "we're definitely on the solution side of this problem now."
Cable service is unaffected.
Beqaj says the outage has nothing to do with President Obama's visit to the Western United States but jokes that conspiracy theorists will have a good time connecting the two.
11 News will bring you the latest on this developing story as it becomes available. Beqaj expects to be issuing a formal statement shortly.
