11 News just spoke again with a Bresnan Communications customer service representative about phone and Internet service outages in our area.
Service is still not restored to all Bresnan Communication customers though a spokesman with Bresnan told us before 1 p.m. Friday that service restoration was 'imminent."
The customer service rep we just spoke with says Grand Junction and other cities in the area are still without service. "It's a little stubborn out there, we don't know why. We're working on it."
The outage started at 7 p.m. Thursday night.
Bresnan Communications Spokesman Shawn Beqaj says the outage affected at least four states, including Colorado, Montana, Wyoming and Utah. He says the cause was a corruption of the routing tables that spread to servers across their network, creating what industry insiders call a "broadcast storm."
Beqaj says the company has identified the problem and is working to prevent it from happening again.
Phone and Internet were the only services impacted. Cable was unaffected.
