A cycling accident claimed the life of a Wisconsin man on the Colorado National Monument over the weekend.
Monument officials say 65–year–old Stanley Dodson of Madison lost control of his bike Saturday afternoon about a mile from the east entrance to the Monument.
Witnesses say he was traveling about 25 mph at the time of the accident.
Park Rangers and Grand Junction Fire crews responded and took Dodson to the hospital where he died Sunday afternoon.
Monument officials say this is the first cycling death in the park’s history.
