Derrick Maxfield, 20, is charged with causing the February crash that killed Shandi Boetel and her 6-month-old baby girl.

His jury trial was set for January 25 after his appearance in court Tuesday morning.

According to court documents, Maxfield had been playing drinking games and taking shots before he got in the car and crashed into Boetel’s truck.
