The Mesa County Coroner has released the identity of a pedestrian killed in an accident Sunday night.

The victim has been identified at 37-year-old Eric Pero of Grand Junction.

His death has been ruled an accident. The Coroner says alcohol was a contributing factor in his death.

Grand Junction Police are investigating the accident that happened around 11:30 p.m. as Pero was crossing Highway 50 near Aspen Street in Grand Junction. He was struck by a car heading eastbound as he was headed southbound.

Pero was taken to the hospital where he died.

Police officials say the driver has not been charged at this time, but they don't believe he was under the influence of alcohol.
