Man flips truck headfirst into Colorado River

A man driving along an I–70 frontage road flipped headfirst into the Colorado River after running off the road.

The accident happened just after 2:30 p.m. Wednesday near I–70 mile marker 44.

Officials say the man was driving his pickup along the Frontage Road when he went off the road, flipped and landed upside down in the river.

Responders found the man on the bank about 20 feet from the road, but it’s unclear at this time if he was ejected or climbed out of the truck himself.

He was taken to the hospital, no word on the extent of his injuries.
