For more than a decade, the junior service league of Grand Junction has hosted an annual Walk 4 Life event. Pre-registration is going on now.
It's a fundraiser aimed at promoting breast cancer awareness, education, detection and support for the uninsured in Mesa County. If you want to participate, now is the best time to sign up.
The 12th annual Walk 4 Life 5K is Oct. 3rd at the Botanical Gardens. But if you want to join, you should probably get started now. Pre-registration lasts until Sept. 25. (You can sign up by clicking on the link below). By pre-registering you’re guaranteed a t-shirt commemorating the event and a goodie-bag when you check in at the walk.
Last year, the Junior Service League raised more than $70,000 through the Walk 4 Life, with about 900 participants. This year, they aim to have 1,000 people walking in the event, and hope to raise at least $50,000.
The money raised from the event provides breast cancer screenings for men and women in Mesa County who are uninsured. There will be informational health booths at the event on Oct. 3, which will help promote awareness of these needs.
