11 News had an "interesting" chat with Chad Smith and Michael Anthony of super group Chickenfoot.

11 News Reporter Tim Ciesco sat down with the guys backstage before the band's set Saturday night. Here's what happened:

Tim: We're backstage at Rock Jam 2009, and my cool points just went through the roof, because sitting next to me:

Michael: (looking up) Whoa!

Tim: Yeah, way through the roof -- We've got Chad Smith and Michael Anthony hanging out with us

(Chad hides behind fake tree next to the couch)

Michael: Chad is kind of being incognito

Tim: Little bit camera shy?

Michael: Yeah, a little bit -- wait, Chad, you back there?

(Chad comes out from behind tree)

Chad: (grabs tree) It's not real! (throws tree)

Tim: Whoa, trashing the place already! I hope they don't get mad at us.

Chad: Very rock n' roll

Michael: Rock n' roll!!

Tim: How does a group like you get started?

(Michael and Chad tear down Rock Jam banner on wall)

Michael: I don't know -- what, we met through E-Harmony. Chad put his stuff on E-Harmony for some reason, something came up.

Chad: Wawa petals, Joe Satriani

Michael: Tequila drinking and Sammy [Hagar]

Chad: And we were a match made in heaven -- rock n' roll heaven.

Michael: What were you gonna do after that?

Tim: How did you guys get the name Chickenfoot?

Michael: How did we get the name Chickenfoot?

Chad: We got the name Chickenfoot from Steve Marriott from Humble Pie. It was the middle name of his grandmother, Susan Chickenfoot Marriott, so we thought that would be appropriate.

Michael: That's how the Marriott Hotel got their name too, you know.

Chad: Yeah, it used to be the Chickenfoot Hotel. Well first it was the Embassy Suites, then the Chickenfoot Embassy Suites, then the Chickenfoot Double Tree.

Michael: Then it was The New Chickenfoot Double Tree

Chad: Then the New Original Chickenfoot, and then finally Marriott.

Tim: Tell me, how is this group different from anything else you guys have been involved with and how do you guys like working with each other?

(Chad pauses, smiles, then comes up to Tim and knocks him out of his chair)

Chad: (yells) What? You think we're (expletive) different? What do you know you haven't seen us (expletive) play yet?

(Chad pulls Tim back up and walks back to the couch like nothing happened. Everyone in the room is laughing)

Michael: What Chad is trying to say is that us four very unique individuals, we come from a lot of the same background, we listen to the same music, and -- Chad, I didn't get the last part of what you told him, can you explain that again?

Chad: (laughs) He hasn't seen us play yet, so we're gonna play and it's gonna be (hears auctioneer outside the interview area) 25, 25, here, 25, 25

Michael: And sold! No, it's a very unique chemistry between us and we were friends even before we got together as Chickenfoot. Chad, Sammy, and I jammed out down in Cabo San Lucas at Sammy's club and then we pulled Joe into the mix because Sammy wanted a little more of a proper guitar player, as he puts it. I don't even think he wanted to play guitar, he just wanted to sing.
