Monday is the last day Frontier Airlines offers service to and from Grand Junction Regional Airport.

Frontier Airlines Holdings Inc. said Friday it has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.

Monday is the last day Frontier Airlines offers service to and from Grand Junction Regional Airport.

Company officials say the flights weren't doing as well as they had hoped, and with a limited number of planes, there were better opportunites elsewhere.

Frontier came to Grand Junction in May 2008. The Denver-based airline offered three flights from Grand Junction Regional Airport to Denver International Airport every day.

Republic Airways is expected to aquire Frontier sometime next month.
