Mesa County School District 51 thanked all of its outstanding volunteers with it’s 7th annual Volunteer Luncheon.
The District hosted the special luncheon Monday morning at the Two Rivers Convention Center.
District officials say it’s a way to say ‘thank you’ to all of the volunteers who help throughout the year.
The District handed out awards in front of a crowd of more than 400 attendees.
School District official Terri Smatla says volunteers touch student’s lives, both inside and outside the classroom. “It gets them to have an adult role model to work with them. And for a lot of our kids that don’t have that in their homes, it is nice to have a friendly face that they can look forward to seeing in the classroom," she says.
