According to Qwest Communications, about two dozen homes off of G Road were without phone service early Tuesday morning, thanks to a hit and run.

Grand Junction Police say a car hit a telephone pole at G Road and Speber Lane, knocking it down. They say the driver then took off.

Police say there was enough evidence left at the scene to determine it was probably a Chrysler.

They say the line that was hit knocked out quite a bit of service to customers somewhere between 26 and 26 1/2 and G Roads.

If caught, police say the driver could be charged with careless driving and leaving the scene of an accident.
