According to the Colorado State Patrol, a woman was hit by an SUV while walking with her back to traffic.

It happened on E Road before 1 a.m. near Rambling Acres in Clifton.

A man driving an SUV was headed westbound on E Road and told Troopers he didn't see her until the last second and couldn't avoid hitting her.

Clifton firefighters arrived just minutes after the accident happened.
She was treated for head injuries at the scene then transported to the hospital.

Troopers say she was the fighting paramedics during her treatment. Her friends told Troopers she'd eaten the seeds of a hallucinogenic
flower called Moonflower before the accident.

The Colorado State Patrol is investigating and say the driver has been cleared of any wrongdoing.

My son ended up in the hospital two years ago Halloween because of this moonflower. We need to educate our youth of the dangers of this drug (flower). Sad thing is when I confronted the weed control office about this flower growing everywhere in this valley, they told me " Children should be smarter" For the parents of this child, you are in my prayers
