Hautzinger named president of DA council, Rubinstein earns top award

During the upcoming legislative session, the General Assembly will take on criminal sentencing reform.

Mesa County District Attorney Pete Hautzinger says the topic could have major impacts here.

Hautzinger will represent DAs around the state at the Capitol as the new president of the Colorado District Attorney’s Council.

It’s an honor he was just elected to by his peers.

The Colorado District Attorney’s Council is the most active and influential group at the Colorado Legislature when it comes to criminal justice.

Chief Deputy District Attorney Dan Rubinstein is also being honored.

He was recently named Prosecutor of the Year.

Rubinstein has handled many high profile drug and murder cases.

He has also supervised a number of highly successful wiretap investigations that have led to the takedown of major drug rings.

Rubinstein is the second Mesa County prosecutor to receive the award.

Richard Brown got it back in 2007.
