A local musician is getting a little national attention for a song written about President Obama's new health care plan that is playing on YouTube.
Danny Agajanian has been picking and writing since 1956. Mostly playing the classics, but sometimes he performs them with a little twist.
He recently wrote lyrics for a new song, expressing his concern about Obama's new health care plan. "People are concerned that they might take control of the latter parts of their lives instead of the family," says Agajanian. It's called "Pull the Plug" and it's aimed at taking a more comical look at the president's new health care plan.
Agajanain move to Grand Junction 18 years ago with his family, but before that he spent almost thirty years working in Canada. He's concerned that our government is trying to model their new plan after our neighbors to the north. "I think they pay a lot for it because a lot of them come across the border for some serious health care," says Abijanian. He's also concerned that the older he gets, the worse he'll be treated. "Now my doctor's Kavorkian" are just some of the lyrics.
His song is quickly gaining popularity with almost 3,000 hits in less than three weeks on YouTube. Agajanian hopes it makes its way to the top. "Maybe even send it to some of the radio stations like Rush Limbaugh or some others, maybe they'll like it," says Agajanian. Either way, he'll continue to play and write, as long as his health holds up.
