CLIFTON, Colo. (KKCO) -- A seven-year-old boy is rushed to the hospital after he is grazed by a bullet.

The incident happened Thursday night in the 3200 block of E Hall Court in Clifton.

The Mesa County Sheriff's office says a child accidentally shot a firearm, grazing the seven year old.

Neighbors tell KKCO 11 News the boy was hit in the lip, but his injuries are non-life threatening, officials say.

He was transported to Community Hospital in a personal vehicle.

The investigation is ongoing, but because of the young age of those involved, no additional information will be released at this time.

This is a typical situation that normally nobody cares to cover. You buy guns imagining yourself in heroic scenarios where you protect your family from evil man in black mask but in the end you end up in jail for shooting your neighbor over his barking dog or make it easy for your teen to paint the walls red over the breakup.
