A Grand Junction Police Officer was sent to the hospital Saturday night after his patrol car was hit by another vehicle.

Colorado State Patrol is investigating the crash.

Officials say the officer was following a suspected drunk driver in a pickup truck on 28 ¾ Road. He stopped his patrol car behind the truck and that’s when another car hit him.

The suspected drunk driver then took off.

Authorities say the officer was taken to the hospital as a precaution but has since been released.

Police are still looking for the driver of the pickup truck.
