Investigators say a teenaged girl is recovering after jumping out of a moving pickup truck.

They say as soon as she jumped out and landed in the road, an SUV traveling behind the pickup had to swerve to avoid hitting her.

It happened on River Road near Blue Water Road Monday evening.

The girl was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The Colorado State Patrol is investigating the incident.

I go to school with this girl. She is one of my friends, and I can't believe this actually happened. I knew that she would eventually do something stupid for this guy, which is what I was afraid of. What I was completely unaware of, however, was the fact that she had a restraining order against him. All I can say is, Wow.

Rumors have it that it's far deeper than being a Run away. Rumored: the Child wanted to be dropped off to meet a boyfriend (24Yrs)that has a restraining order to stay away from this Girl. When they refused and continued to take her to the Sheriffs department, she jumped out of there Truck. I knew it had to be serious for a child to jump out of a moving vehicle.

The child had apparently been reported as a runaway and was being taken to the police. It is unknown if she was trying to hurt herself or if she just thought she could get away.
