Coffee cupping: Sense and sensibility

Much like wine tasting and appreciation, there are certain subtleties to different roasts and brews of coffee.

To help the average Joe learn more about a cup of joe, Main Street Bagels is hosting a series of classes this weekend on “Coffee Cupping,” or the art of coffee appreciation. The classes are being taught by an award-winning barista, who’s flying in for the occasion.

According to the Web site, CoffeeGeek.com, “Over time a cupper will begin to associate particular flavors with geographical regions and different botanical varieties of coffee.”

So, if you want to expand your coffee knowledge beyond just knowing Folgers from Starbucks, here are the details about the upcoming classes:

Workshops offered at 10 a.m., 2 p.m. & 6 p.m.
