The gym at Fruita Monument High School was packed Friday night as students were awarded for excelling in the classroom.

Nearly 450 students achieved a 3.5 or higher GPA in the previous school year and were recognized with an academic letter or bar, depending on the number of years they have maintained a high GPA.

Officials with the school say they know how hard these students have worked, and they couldn’t be prouder of each of them.

Around a third of Fruita Monument students receive a 3.5 GPA or higher.
