A person sitting on the tracks didn't move for an oncoming train, and suffered a violent death.

It happened Monday night just before 11 p.m. at 32 5/8 Road.

According to a sergeant with the Mesa County Sheriff's Office, the train's engineer says he blew his horn several times because there were several cars that were going around the crossing arm.

The sergeant says the engineer didn't notice the person until the train was almost upon them.

The Mesa County Coroner will have to identify the person.
