After months of hard work and careful planning, the Clifton Sanitation District is celebrating the Grand Opening of its new wastewater treatment plant.
Crews have been working since early this summer to dig out tons of waste and sludge from lagoons where the old treatment plant used to be, turning that area into space that can be used for a nature preserve and agricultural purposes.
Officials say this new facility will process more water, meet higher EPA standards and keep up with growth.
District officials say the reclamation process is still underway and will likely take several more weeks before it is complete.
