October has been dubbed Colorado Pedestrian Month, and to celebrate, schools across the state will join schools across the country for International Walk to School Day.
Wednesday, students at Broadway Elementary and Redlands Middle are encouraged to walk or ride their bikes to school.
Officials say they’ve been working hard over the past several years to promote health and exercise at district schools.
Broadway Elementary says with its annual walk-a-thon coming up later this month, Walk To School Day tied in perfectly with their efforts.
More than 6,500 schools and four million people across the world participated in Walk To School Day in 2008.
