Members of local VFW Post 1247 held a heated fundraiser to raise money for gifts for the troops.

On Saturday the Post hosted Operation Interdependence's Chili Lunch and silent auction. All the money from the auction will go to buy postage to send packages to soldiers overseas.

Karon Carley, national president of Operation Interdependence, expected to make about $3,000.

Carley says the group can't operate without the support of the community. To help, click the link below.
