GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) - The Colorado National Monument, School District 51 and REI are teaming up to get students to enjoy the outdoors.

REI recently handed out a $5,000 grant to officials at the Colorado National Monument.

The Monument plans to buy camping equipment with it and then loan the gear out to students as an extension to their annual environmental education field trip to the Monument.

Seventy eight 4th graders already had the opportunity to take a trip.
