Stolen car found crashed on I-70, no suspect in sight

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) - Police are searching for whoever crashed a stolen car on Interstate-70 Sunday morning.

Around 8:30 a.m. the Palisade Police Department got a report of a stolen Buick Le Saber. Two hours later Grand Junction Police found the car in a ditch near the Horizon Drive exit in the westbound lanes of I–70.

Police say the driver of the car was speeding when they lost control, crashed into a telephone pole and took out a fence near the Harley Davidson dealership.

"The air bags were deployed but we don't see any blood or anything inside the vehicle," Sgt. Jim Creasey told 11News. "I find it hard to believe someone could walk away from it. I really believe you would have sustained some type of injury."

Anyone with information on who may have stolen or crashed it is asked to call the anonymous Crime Stoppers Tip Line at 241-STOP.
