GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) - A man says he swerved to avoid hitting a dog and ended up in a canal.
It happened early Tuesday evening. Grand Junction Police say the man was headed Northbound on Orchard Avenue when he was making a right turn onto 28 Road.
He says there was a dog in the road, and he had to swerve to keep from running it over. That's when he ran straight into the shallow flood control canal that runs along Orchard Avenue.
Police had to bring in a boom truck to lift the pickup out of the canal. Alcohol is not suspected.
