GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) - Grand Junction native and businessman Ray Scott has officially announced his run for the State House District 54 seat in 2010.

Scott says he’ll speak for the small business community in a state he calls over-run by unions and Gov. Bill Ritter's tax-and-fee anti-business policies.

Scott had been considering a run against Congressman John Salazar in 2010. He's been on a listening tour, wanting to get a feel for voter needs and concerns before officially announcing a decision.

He says he can better help the people of Western Colorado from the Colorado House of Representatives and has set his sights on the District 54 seat currently held by Rep. Steve King. King is vacating the seat.

He says he wants to bring jobs back to Western Colorado he says the Democrat-controlled legislature have helped drive away.

Scott owns Gas Products Corporation, Coolwater Homes and Skyline Warehouse in Grand Junction. For more information on Scott, click the link below.

Finally, someone who knows what it's really like in the small business world. He is with the rest of us that are struggling in these tough times. I'm glad that someone is willing to step up and be the voice of the people. He has my vote and I wish him the best of luck.

I support Ray because he's a business owner that knows how to actually run a company and make it successful. Career politicians only seem to know how to spend money and make promises they can't keep. Go Ray!

It is a comfort to know that someone has actually taken the time to hear the people out before pursuing a run without the knowledge of what is best for the community. I think Ray's listening tour was a very smart thing to do to determine where he could best put his knowledge to work. I wish him the best of luck!

As a small business owner in the valley, I am delighted that there is someone that is able to relate to the struggles we are facing in this economy. It is a good feeling to know that there is someone who truly wants to make a difference and I believe that Ray Scott is the man for the job.
