GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) - A man linked by DNA to a sex assault case almost a decade old has pleaded guilty.
Jorge Hurtado-Ruiz raped a woman near Colorado Avenue in 2000 then tried to kidnap her.
Police say they put DNA evidence into the CBI profiling system and got a match seven years later.
But it wasn’t until January of this year that authorities in Arizona picked him up on a warrant and extradited him to Grand Junction.
He’ll be sentenced in December.
