MESA COUNTY, Colo (KKCO) The Mesa County Sheriff's Office says it was able to track down and arrest three sex offenders on failure to register charges during a recent sting operation.

William Fredrick Johnson, Jackey Futrell, and Nicholas Butterfield were all arrested as part of a nationwide effort to crack down on sex offenders called Operation Shepherd.

Officials say this is not the first time Futrell and Butterfield have been arrested for failing to register as sex offenders.

During the operation, the Mesa County Sheriff's Office verified the addresses of 145 offenders.

Operation Shepherd is organized by the U.S. Marshal's Office.

Why can't we keep a hold of these monsters? I'm so sick of hearing that yet another convicted sex offender has committed ANOTHER preverse sex act because law couldn't keep tabs on them. I'm glad that ALL of the monsters listed in the article are where they belong. BUT, how long are they going to stay in jail? I personally know that alot of them use alias's, there has to be a better way to keep tabs on them. Just makes me mad that people like butterfield, futrell, and johnson walk around our town and we have no idea who they really are.
