GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO - Your afternoon commute may be impacted by a work on 12th Street due to a gas leak.

The City of Grand Junction says the outside lanes of both northbound and southbound 12th Street are shut down at Elm Avenue as crews work to repair a gas leak that's affecting a large neighborhood.

Xcel Energy is securing the pipe and will be working on the repair.

There are no evacuations at this time and Xcel officials say they should be able to keep gas flowing to homes during the repair.

Xcel Energy spokesman Fred Eggleston says there's no word yet on how long the repair will take or what caused the leak.
