GJ barfight leaves man dead

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) - Police say a man has been beaten to death outside a bar in downtown Grand Junction.

According to Grand Junction Police, one man is dead after being severely beaten early Tuesday morning outside of Quincy's Bar & Grill on Main Street.

They confirm the man was in Quincy's, and at some point a barfight broke out.

6th Street south of Main Street was blocked off with crime tape throughout the morning as police investigated.

Witnesses reported seeing large amounts of blood where the beating happened.

Investigators have not released many details. They do say the victim was alive when he was taken to the hospital, but in critical condition.

He was pronounced dead a short time later.

Police won't say whether they have a suspect in custody. The Mesa County Coroner hasn't released the victim's name pending notification of the family.
