GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) - The Lions Club crowned one deserving recipient of this year's Hometown Hero award Tuesday.
This year, the Lions Club selected Vicky Brickey.
Vicky works for the Grand Junction Police Department with VAP, or Victim's Assistance Program.
Vicky has worked with the program for almost seven years, making a difference in the lives of victims of crimes who need help and support to get through tough times.
"It's hard, but it's rewarding to be able to help someone else," she says.
The Hometown Hero award is given annually to someone within the community who is usually an unsung hero.
Vicky's three sons and her friends from School District 51 were also in attendance at Tuesday's ceremony.
